What Beckley Retreats is
Legal, guided psilocybin retreats, built around the weeks before and after.
Beckley Retreats is a public benefit corporation that runs legal, guided psilocybin retreat programs in Jamaica and the Netherlands, with four weeks of preparation before, two guided sessions on retreat, and six weeks of integration after.
Founded in 2021 by Amanda Feilding, Rock Feilding-Mellen and Neil Markey, Beckley Retreats draws on the Beckley Foundation's research legacy while operating as a legally independent company. It has hosted more than 1,200 guests. Beckley does not provide medical treatment, does not diagnose, and does not guarantee outcomes. It screens every applicant and holds a mandatory suitability call before anyone is approved.

The people
Founders, team, and research.
Founders
Amanda Feilding (1943 to 2025) founded the Beckley Foundation in 1998 and spent three decades funding and co-authoring psychedelic research with Imperial College London and Johns Hopkins. Her son Rock Feilding-Mellen is co-founder and a board member. Neil Markey, co-founder and CEO, is a former US Army Special Operations captain and McKinsey consultant. He is currently enrolled in a master's program at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
The team on retreat
Our teams include practitioners with backgrounds as psychotherapists, psychologists and physicians. On retreat they are not acting in their licensed capacity, because Beckley does not provide medical treatment, but that training is in the room with you. During sessions there is at least one facilitator for every four guests, usually one for every three. Meet the facilitators.
Research
Our research team and advisors include Dr. AZA Allsop, Head of Research, and Karestan Koenen, a professor at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
In 2025, Brain and Behavior published an observational study by Megan Calnan and colleagues, including Robin Carhart-Harris, of 58 military veterans attending psilocybin retreats in Jamaica or ayahuasca retreats in Peru. Beckley Retreats provided psilocybin retreats to Heroic Hearts Project and resource support. The paper states that Beckley did not influence the study design, data collection, analysis or interpretation.
Participants reported improvements on wellbeing and other questionnaire measures four weeks after retreat. The study had no control group, so it cannot establish that the retreats caused those changes or prove the effectiveness of Beckley's program. Read the study. Explore the research hub.

The program
Three phases. One structure.
Before
Four weeks of preparation
A 1:1 intake call with a facilitator, group calls with your cohort, and guided practices in the Beckley app, online and at your own pace, one to two hours a week.
On retreat
Four or five nights
A private venue and a group of up to 18. Two guided psilocybin sessions on separate days, each around six hours and each followed by a day to make sense of it. In each session every guest receives a custom amount within a predefined range, around what you would see in a clinical trial in the US. This is not medical treatment.
After
Six weeks of integration
Weekly group calls, short daily practices and optional 1:1 coaching, online and at your own pace, one to two hours a week. Then an alumni community that stays open.

Psilocybin mushrooms are legal in Jamaica and psilocybin truffles are legal in the Netherlands, which is why Beckley works in those two countries and nowhere else. A 50 percent deposit at registration, the balance in monthly instalments until 60 days before the retreat, and financial aid for guests with need. Where does Beckley run retreats, and why only there?
Jamaica, where psilocybin mushrooms are legal, at Good Hope in Trelawny; and the Netherlands, where psilocybin truffles are legal, at De Hoorneboeg near Amsterdam and The Place To Be in the Achterhoek. Beckley does not run programs in the United States or anywhere else psilocybin is prohibited.

Beckley Retreats grew out of the Beckley Foundation, the UK research and policy organisation founded by Amanda Feilding in 1998, which has funded and co-authored psilocybin research with Imperial College London and Johns Hopkins for more than 25 years. The retreat program applies that research to a structured, screened, small-group setting. Beckley Retreats is legally independent of the Beckley Foundation.

$4,250 to $12,500 per guest depending on country, length and room. It is built for people at a crossroads rather than in crisis: founders, executives, physicians, therapists, attorneys, most in their 40s through 70s, who want structure and science rather than anything that asks them to take it on faith.
