Jamaica is one of the few countries where the cultivation, gifting and consumption of psilocybin mushrooms is legal. Beckley's Signature Program runs there through the year, at Good Hope, a restored estate in the hills of Trelawny, 45 minutes from Montego Bay airport.

Every Jamaica program is five nights with two guided psilocybin sessions, held inside the full program: preparation before you fly and integration after you land back home. Both are online and at your own pace, one to two hours a week.

The venue

Good Hope

Two centuries-old cut-stone villas, renovated with care to keep their history, set on open mountain views where the group watches the sunrise and the sunset. Thirteen rooms with premium bedding and their own bathrooms, two swimming pools, a private beach, and a dedicated room for yoga, meditation and the sessions themselves.

Two thousand acres in the hills of Trelawny, with a river running through the estate, open views to the sunrise and the sunset, and the coast forty-five minutes away. The estate is private and secure. Each date below names its venue.

Shared rooms are the lower price and private rooms the higher. Included: airport transfers on arrival and departure days, all meals and snacks, every group session, yoga, meditation and breathwork, and the full preparation and integration programs, online and at your own pace. Not included: flights, and massage, which is available on site for an additional charge. Optional 1:1 coaching can be added at checkout, and financial aid is available for guests with need.

On retreat

What the days look like

Arrival

Private transfer from the airport. Settle in, meet your group and the team, and open the week together.

Preparation on site

Meditation, breathwork and gentle movement. Time with a facilitator to set your intention. Time in nature, and a digital detox.

The sessions

Two guided psilocybin sessions on separate days. Each lasts around six hours, in one room, with your group and the full team. Every guest receives a custom amount within a predefined range, around what you would see in a clinical trial in the US, though this is not medical treatment. Music guides the arc and a facilitator is within reach the whole time.

Integration on site

The day after a session is set aside to make sense of it: group circles, 1:1 time, rest, and practices you can take home.

Departure

Closing circle, then a private transfer to the airport. Six weeks of integration begin the following week.

The team in Jamaica

Practitioners who know the island

There is at least one facilitator for every four guests during sessions, usually one for every three. Our teams include practitioners with backgrounds as psychotherapists, psychologists and physicians. On retreat they are not acting in their licensed capacity, because Beckley does not provide medical treatment, but that training is in the room with you. Our Jamaica team includes Jamaican practitioners, among them Dingle Spence, a retired Jamaican physician trained in oncology and palliative medicine, and Micah Tafari, a Jamaican custodian of land who holds space on retreat.

A nurse is on site throughout every session, with a doctor on call and nearby care if it is ever needed. The psilocybin is sourced from trusted suppliers.

Getting there

Fly to Montego Bay

Book flights into Montego Bay (MBJ). A private transfer meets you on arrival day and takes you back on departure day; the drive to Good Hope is about 45 minutes. If you want a night on either side, Montego Bay makes that easy. Transfers cover program days only.

Questions

Before you apply

Is the suitability call required?

Yes. Every applicant has a suitability call with our team before acceptance. It is mandatory: we go through your history together, answer your questions and make sure the program is a fit. It protects you, and it protects the group you will sit with.

Is this legal?

Yes. Jamaica permits the cultivation, gifting and consumption of psilocybin mushrooms, and Beckley operates only in legal jurisdictions. Psilocybin remains a Schedule I controlled substance under United States federal law, so we do not run programs in the US. Beckley Retreats is a US public benefit corporation.

Who will be in my group?

Most guests are in their 40s through 70s: founders, executives, physicians, therapists, attorneys and people who have built a full life and want to look honestly at what has not shifted. Every applicant is screened and each group is composed with care.

I have never done anything like this. Is Jamaica the right choice?

Yes. The five-night Signature Program carries the most preparation and support, which is why we recommend it to first-time guests.

What happens if a session is difficult?

Difficult passages are part of this work and the team is trained for them. A facilitator is with you, a nurse is on site, and the next day is built for making sense of what came up.

Can I keep in touch with home?

Yes. Phones are set aside during sessions and we encourage a digital detox, but you are never out of reach for anything that matters.
