Luke McSwiney
Facilitator
“At its best, it’s a remembering - a return to relationship, belonging and wholeness. From that place, gratitude, peace and compassion often emerge naturally."
His Role
At Beckley Retreats, Luke is a facilitator and co-lead, supporting participants as they navigate expanded states of consciousness. Drawing on his background in breathwork, somatic awareness, sound and bodywork, he helps create an environment in which people can soften, reconnect with themselves, and meet whatever emerges with curiosity and compassion.
His Story
Luke trained as a breathwork facilitator and somatic therapist. A philosopher at heart, he has long been fascinated by consciousness and the question of what it means to be human. He studied Philosophy & Religion, and cultivated a deep personal practice rooted in meditation alongside altered states of awareness. Over time, his attention shifted from searching for answers in revelation towards finding resolution in his breath, body, and the earth beneath his feet. This led him to study somatic experiencing, conscious movement and breath-based trauma work, where he found that, alongside insight, lasting change often comes through learning to feel, regulate and inhabit the body more fully.
His Why
Luke believes many of the difficulties we face today arise from disconnection: from our bodies, from each other, and from the living world. Beneath much of modern life lies a persistent sense of threat, reinforced by constant distraction and ways of living that pull us away from direct experience. For him, psychedelic work is not about escaping reality or chasing extraordinary states. At its best, it’s a remembering - a return to relationship, belonging and wholeness. From that place, gratitude, peace and compassion often emerge naturally. For Luke, this is the essence of the work: to create spaces where such remembering becomes possible, and where healing can unfold through a profound trust in natural wisdom.
